We are currently seeking a Corporate Accounting Intern for Summer Semester 2025. This position is located in Columbus, Ohio.
We strive for work assignments that are educational and meaningful. We recognize that work experience relating to the student’s career goal can be beneficial to the student in obtaining permanent employment upon graduation. The intern’s duties will be of a nature similar to duties that would be assigned to a full-time employee.
Our Accounting interns interact with various groups across Battelle, including technical staff, Legal, Finance and Treasury. They will be immersed in Battelle’s culture and will have opportunities to learn about all that the company has to offer. Successful candidates will need to apply knowledge and a keen attention to detail to complete assignments with a high degree of accuracy.
Responsibilities
Intern activities may include some or all of the following:
- Perform assigned general ledger reconciliations, analyze and research outstanding items.
- Assist with the financial close process, including preparing and recording journal entries for assigned entity/entities.
- Assist with monthly financial statement variance analysis for assigned entity/entities.
- Assist with review and analysis of Accounts Receivables and be able to communicate findings appropriately.
- Review and ensure compliance with applicable internal controls.
- Work with various areas within the organization to ensure transactions are reflected accurately and timely.
- Assist with research of technical issues.
- Ensures accounting procedures are within Battelle guidelines, federal, state, local laws, and acceptable accounting standards.
Key Qualifications
- Must be in junior standing or higher, pursuing a bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Related work experience (paid or unpaid) is preferred.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to take on technical challenges.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Must be available to work 40 hours/week.
- Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
